There won’t be a gravesite for fans to lay flowers at for the late David Bowie. The rock icon’s body has been quietly cremated in his beloved New York City. Even in death he’s continuing on with his wishes to remain an extremely private person.
Oh no! The body of music legend David Bowie has been privately cremated following his untimely death from liver cancer at age 69 on Jan. 10. In line with his wishes, no family or friends were present at the ceremony, and there will be no public funeral as he wanted only a private ceremony for only his wife, daughter, son and close friends. In death as in the last several decades of his life, David wants his life to be remembered mainly by those he loved the most in this would.
A message to his official Facebook page Jan. 14, it read, ” THANK YOU. The family of David Bowie is currently making arrangements for a private ceremony celebrating the memory of their beloved husband, father and friend. They ask once again that their privacy be respected at this most sensitive of times. We are overwhelmed by and grateful for the love and support shown throughout the world.” How touching!
